# How to Add a Checkbox to a Notion Table - 3 Simple Steps

This guide covers the process of adding checkboxes to [Notion databases](https://super.so/blog/6-steps-to-creating-databases-in-notion) in table and calendar views.

**TL;DR**

To add checkboxes to a Notion table:

Create a new Notion table view database or open an existing one. Insert a new column with the ‘Checkbox’ property type. This will add empty checkboxes to the new column.

Let’s discuss these steps in detail.

## 1. Create a Notion database in table view

…Or open an existing one. This guide will use the following Notion class schedule template for demonstration purposes.

By the end of this section, we will have added a Notion column with checkboxes that students can mark off after submitting relevant assignments.

## 2. Add checkboxes to the Notion table

Start by [creating the column](https://super.so/blog/how-to-create-columns-in-notion) to contain the checkboxes by clicking on the tiny ‘+’ icon on the right side of your Notion table.

Next, look for the ‘Checkbox’ property type in the property types list displayed by Notion.

Clicking ‘Checkbox’ inserts checkboxes into all the active cells in the new column.

## 3. Use checkboxes

Click the checkboxes to check them.

In our example, the checkboxes against ‘Soccer’, ‘Physics’, and ‘English literature’ are checked, indicating that the user has submitted assignments for those subjects.

## How to add checkboxes to a Notion calendar?

We will use the same example as before - the Notion class schedule template - in [calendar view](https://super.so/blog/how-to-make-a-calendar-in-notion) for demonstration purposes. As before, we will add checkboxes to track assignment completion.

### 1. Click the three-dots icon in Notion calendar view

Locate it next to the blue ‘New’ button. Click on ‘Properties’ in the options menu.

### 2. Create a new property

Click ‘+ New property’ to access the ‘Property types’ view.

### 3. Select the ‘Checkbox’ property type

You can now see checkboxes added to the calendar view.

### 4. Start using the checkboxes

Click any checkbox to check it. As shown in the screenshot below, the user has completed assignments for ‘Soccer’, ‘Physics’, and ‘Chemistry’.

## How to add multiple checkboxes to a Notion table?

Notion does not support the insertion of multiple checkboxes to Notion tables. However, you can copy and paste this emoji - ✅- which resembles a checked checkbox in a series as an alternative method.
